# Nurture Actions

**Nurture** refers to the actions by which players can improve a Genopet's Mood (by improving its levels of Nutrition, Joy, and Love). There are currently three types of Nurture actions, each corresponding to the Genopet need (Nutrition, Joy, or Love) it can influence:

* [Feeding](/game-mechanics/mood-and-nurture/nurture-actions/feeding.md) - increases Nutrition
* [Playing](/game-mechanics/mood-and-nurture/nurture-actions/playing.md) - increases Joy
* [Petting](/game-mechanics/mood-and-nurture/nurture-actions/petting.md) - increases Love

Feeding and Playing are in-app mini-games, which require Nurture items such as Food or Toys in order to play. All Nurture actions can be performed as many times in succession as the player desires, but each requires Energy to perform. A successful Nurture action causes the associated need value (and therefore overall Mood) to increase. However, neither Mood nor need can exceed its maximum possible value.
